Slowly: it's the best way to braise beef and the best way to enjoy a good porter. We cover house-butchered beef shoulder in Georgetown Brewing porter, then leave them in a low oven all afternoon. Featured on the side is red cabbage braised in Burgundy wine and steamed Yukon Gold potatoes tossed in olive oil and fresh herbs.

Potatoes were nicely flavored and textured and cabbage was a nice offset. Meat was fatty and "gravy" clumpy despite heating longer than recommended. Tried for leftovers the next day but meat/gravy did not improve so just threw it away. WASTED $!

We really like this dish but it definitely needs an additional vegetable!!! Adding carrots would be great!

Awful. Not like photo at all. Besides resembling dog food, the beef was way too salty and very fatty. The gravy was gelatinous. The potatoes were bland and uninspired. The cabbage had a strange flavor. We ended up throwing most of it away.

Flavor is amazing !! Meat is fork tender ! Flavor of gravy is also amazing but stayed very gelatinous ... Would enjoy the roasted carrots with it you often have with other entrees

I rate this excellent for flavor and texture. It is very fatty though. Best to remove the fat before heating. Once removed, the portion of beef is rather small.
