Ancient techniques meet modern sensibilities in this simple yet satisfying dish. Free-range chicken from Petaluma Poultry is seasoned in a dry rub before simmering in a clay pot—or saucepan—with garlic, shallots, ginger, and tangy, slightly sweet claypot sauce. This cooking technique is renowned for retaining natural moisture, making each bite of chicken gloriously tender. Enjoy with a side of rice, available separately on our menu.

What People Are Saying

A little time consuming to cut and trim chicken, but instructions are easy and the dish is delish!
3 Stars
Pepper was extremely strong.would be nice if it came with rice.
4 Stars
Would rather not cook it

I order this probably once a week. Simple, reliable good eats. Shallots are nice change from the usual onion that might go with this. I think my only criticism is not enough veggies. Maybe throw in a Pasilla pepper and it's all good.

It's hard for me to review this dish, because the chicken was delicious! However, it was definitely not enough for two people. There was no rice or anything filling to go with the chicken.

No instructions for the stove - a high, med, or low is all we needed. Cooked at medium and stirred every 30-60 seconds. Sauce became thick and inedible. Finished product looked nothing like picture. Never again.

We did not like this dish a at all! I ordered it before for a friend, but she never told me If she liked it . So I thought I would order it for me and my husband . It was very pungent. !This dish was really disappointing .

Are you serious charging $28 for this???? For that price i expected a meal for two, not a medium-sized portion of chicken. For tat price I could take a damn taxi to the slanted door and get a professionally cooked version, including tax and tip.

I thought this option was a cooked meal

Prefer breast

Chicken was frozen inside and very fatty, so it took a half hour to defrost and was a pain to trim. It was eventually tasty but the portion was small.

Was never delivered. Thank you for nothing.

The "clay pot sauce" was missing from my order. So basically had sautéed chicken with garlic, shallots & ginger. Munchery fail:(
1 Stars
Garlic was missing. Half of the sauce had spilled from the packet, soaking the box and everything in it.
5 Stars
Loved the flavor and the prep was quick.
3 Stars
Please take 3 minutes to proofread the instructions, then have someone actually prepare braces on the instructions. Add the chilis twice not never the shallots?
5 Stars
Fix the damn recipe already. It has been loaded with errors for months.

All the menus could be explained a little better. I'm using another service as well and they instruct you to chop everything then start cooking. Some of these instructions are not the best. This choice was a little skimpy. Could have come with rice.
3 Stars
Too salty, small portion
2 Stars
Should come with rice or veggies. Some bones in my chicken.
3 Stars
Instructions were incorrect. There was no direction about when to add the shallots and ginger, and there were unclear instructions about the pepper (how to prepare and when to add). Also, given the cost, I would like a vegetable side & rice include

This is not chicken. It's bits and pieces of chicken leftovers. A shame.
5 Stars
It took about 20 minutes or so to prepared and it turned out perfect. It was yummy!
3 Stars
5 stars for the food itself. nicely seasoned, well sourced ingredients. 1 star for the recipe card which was super confusing and just didn't make sense in some parts.
2 Stars
The instructions forgot a few ingredients
2 Stars
This tastes nothing like Slanted Door.
5 Stars
Great flavor. Iinstructions were incomplete. Not much food for two meals -- more chicken would be appreciated. Original meal kit from Slanted Door was a lot easier to make.
1 Stars
The chicken was frozen which means we couldn't use it the same day, had piece of bone in the chicken.
2 Stars
Instructions were terrible and unintelligible. Food was good once I figured out a way to use the ingredients.
5 Stars
Great dish! This is a full meal!
1 Stars
Left out what to do with half the ingredients. Repeated one section twice
3 Stars
This is not enough for 2 people unless you consider it appetizer size
3 Stars
Instructions missing components Chicken advertised as being from Mary's but actually from Rocky Jr Chicken contained multiple bone fragments
4 Stars
It was ok. The recipe card actually was missing the addition of two of the main ingredients (ginger and shallot), but we figured it out.
